Despite the rain, the Pilgrimage Festival begins in Franklin this weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A little rain and wind couldn't stop the Pilgrim Festival from starting in Franklin!

You may remember that the 2018 pilgrimage was canceled due to bad weather.

However, today's rain didn't stop thousands from donning their raincoats and ponchos to listen to their favorite bands.

“We are prepared to take a little rain as long as it is safe,” Landon Austin said.

“I'm fine standing in the rain. I’ve been to Bonnaroo four times, I’m not afraid of mud,” added Milana Savia.

Organizers say they are working closely with the city of Franklin and Williamson County Emergency Management to ensure everyone stays safe.

Meanwhile, festival-goers enjoyed dancing in the rain.

“Once you set the expectation that you're definitely going to have fun, nothing can really disappoint you,” said Joe Brackett of Chattanooga.

Organizers say the festival will take place as planned on Saturday and Sunday. They inform everyone of any changes via their app and social media.
