Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson injured against Pittsburgh Steelers

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson injured against Pittsburgh Steelers

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Steelers-Indianapolis Colts game was hit by injuries early on, as both teams lost a starter in the first quarter. The Steelers will now be without offensive guard James Daniels. For the Colts, they lost quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Richardson left the field after being hit by inside linebacker Elandon Roberts in the first quarter. As he fell to the ground, he grabbed his hip and was only able to get up slowly after the piece. He left the field but returned shortly afterwards. He was deemed doubtful to return due to a hip injury.

Just a few plays later he walked away again, took another hit and got up limping. He was then taken to the blue medical tent for an examination before going to the locker room with the Colts medical staff.

Without Richardson, the Colts will have Joe Flacco at quarterback against the Steelers. Richardson left the game after completing three of four passes for 71 yards and leading Indianapolis to a touchdown on its first drive.

The second-year quarterback missed most of last season due to injury and was replaced by Gardner Minshew. Indianapolis could retain him to avoid the same situation this season.

This is a developing story. Steelers On SI will continue to provide updates on Richardson's injury and more information will become available.
