Nick Saban reacts to Alabama's offensive explosion, praises Jalen Milroe

A year ago, Nick Saban would be in the locker room trying to get there Alabama ready for the second half against Georgia. But this time he's standing on the sidelines of the field named after him, giving analysis on the ESPN broadcast. Alabama is up 30-7 at halftime, with everything seemingly going in the Crimson Tide's favor.

Saban was impressed with the game plan Kalen DeBoer was able to put together Jalen Milroe. The quarterback burst out of the gates and quickly gave Alabama a 28-0 lead. Milroe was also praised for going there and executing the plan.

“Well, firstly, they have an excellent game plan. Jalen Milroe does a fantastic job implementing it.”

On the other hand, Saban wasn't too impressed with Georgia's offensive performance. He noted the desire to shoot deep from the outside in hopes of getting their receivers into one-on-one coverage against the Alabama corners.

Although he managed to reach the matchup, Carson Beck was unable to contact his boys. From then on, Georgia never managed to find a rhythm.

“I think the way Georgia played the game on offense – Alabama likes to play in the middle of the field. So they went out and attacked the corners and scored 0/3 in shots. They never tried to establish the lead and Alabama overran them offensively. By the end, Jalen Milroe had more yards than the entire Georgia team.”

Milroe completed 18 of 21 passes in the first half, throwing for 199 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, just nine carries yielded 106 yards and two touchdowns. His only mistake on the night so far was an interception.

As the highlights approached, Saban referred to his former quarterback as “the fastest player on the field.” Even as a neutral analyst, Saban couldn't help but be impressed.
