NORMAN, Okla. – Josh Heupel leads the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers football team against the No. 13 Oklahoma Volunteers, where he led the Sooners to the national title as a Heisman quarterback but was fired as offensive coordinator.

Expect a wide range of emotions at Heupel's homecoming as Oklahoma (3-0) plays its first SEC game against the Vols (3-0), the top-scoring team in college football.

It's also a showdown of former five-star quarterbacks – Nico Iamaleava of Tennessee and Jackson Arnold of Oklahoma.

As time ran out, Tennessee tried to score one last play in the first quarter: a 66-yard touchdown pass between Iamaleava and Dont'e Thornton Jr. The pitch-and-catch gave Tennessee an early 10-3 lead against the Sooners on the road!

Oklahoma responds with a drive of its own deep into Tennessee territory, but the Sooners get stuck in similar fashion at the Vols' 6-yard line, leading to an OU field goal and tying the game at 3-3. Tennessee takes over at its own 20-yard line.

The Vols penetrate deep into Sooners territory with a 38-yard catch-and-run between Nico Iamaleava and Bru McCoy to the OU 10-yard line, but the Vols settle for a field goal to give them the lead.

Oklahoma forces Tennessee into a three-and-out, but three plays later the Vols get the ball back when Jermod McCoy intercepts a pass from Arnold. Not much offense so far in this game.

The Vols put a lot of pressure on OU's offense and forced another early punt. Tyre West scored a sack on second down, putting the Sooners on third-and-long.

The Vols can't get anything done on their drive, they are out three times and decide to punt. The Sooners take over at their own 20-yard line after the punt went into the end zone.

Iamaleava had a nice fight on second down, but Tennessee was unable to convert on third down on a running play with Sampson. Only the Vols' third punt all season.

Oklahoma tries fourth and short at midfield, but the Vols are able to stop the Sooners' pass. Tennessee's offense takes the lead with solid field position.

Tennessee wins the coin toss and heads to the second half. The Vols defense is first on. Let's go, folks.

Heupel was honored before the game for returning to Norman as quarterback of the Sooners that won the 2000 national championship. Tennessee-Oklahoma is 20 minutes before kickoff.

Heupel made it to the stadium and entered the visitors' locker room for the first time in his football career as a player or coach. The game marks his first return to Norman since being fired from OU's coaching staff following the 2014 season.
