How will Ole Miss' loss to Kentucky affect Missouri?

How will Ole Miss' loss to Kentucky affect Missouri?

There was a lot to be had at the top of the SEC in Week 5 as No. 2 Georgia and No. 4 Alabama faced off in a rematch of last season's SEC Championship Game.

But the most significant result of Week 5 could be an early game matchup in which No. 6 Ole Miss loses at home to Kentucky. The Ole Miss Rebels were one of five SEC teams ranked in the top six of the AP Poll, but will undoubtedly fall at least a few spots after the surprising loss.

Depending on the results of other games around the country, Ole Miss' loss could push Missouri back into the top 10.

This early in the season, Missouri's main focus is still on the Tigers taking care of business week in, week out. But dents in the resumes of top teams like Ole Miss will only clear the path to a playoff spot for the Tigers.

Ole Miss' first loss this season to a conference team makes it all the more significant as it is a factor in potential tiebreakers that will determine who gets a spot in the SEC Championship Game.
