NEW DELHI: Australia is preparing to return home Border Gavaskar Trophy Later this year, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell believes that dealing with Indian spin duo Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will be crucial to their success.
The Indian spinner aces have established themselves as one of the best spin bowling pairs.
In the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, Ashwin and Jadeja took 13 wickets between them and led India to a dominant 280-run win.
Their performance will have a significant impact on India's chances of retaining the series in Australia for the third consecutive year.
“I think that over a long period of time, having played against the likes of Ashwin and Jadeja, these two have always been the ones we have consistently competed against and the battles we have had with them often have the outcome of the game “For sure.” So if we play well against those two, we'll generally be in a better position than if they had a great day and overtook us. These two guys have been there for most of my career. “They’re similar ages,” Maxwell said on Star Sports.

Maxwell also praised Jasprit Bumrah's emergence as the world's best pacer and recalled his first encounter with him in the Mumbai Indians nets during the 2013 IPL.
“And probably more recently Jasprit Bumrah. I was there in his first year of the IPL in Mumbai in 2013 and faced him practically every day in the nets. Watching him develop from a young, untapped talent to what he is now – “Probably the best bowler in all three formats – is a pretty amazing story,” he added.
The upcoming five-match Test series will be played from November 22, 2024 to January 7, 2025 in Perth, Adelaide (pink ball game), Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
India have successfully defended the title in the last four consecutive BGT series – home and away – including notable series wins in 2018-19 and 2020-21.
