As soon as the snow began falling Tuesday afternoon, one of the closest ski resorts to Fort Collins and the Denver area announced plans to open Thursday — eight days earlier than originally planned.

Eldora, 21 miles west of Boulder, will begin its 2024-25 season at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, marketing director Sam Bass wrote in an email.

The new snow, coupled with snowmaking operations and cold temperatures, will allow Eldora to open its Alpenglow chairlift and three intermediate runs – Hornblower, Windmill and International – as well as a small terrain park near the West Wing Lodge, the resort said in a news release known.

No beginner terrain, lessons, lift access, or cross-country ski/snowshoe trails are open.

All tickets and passes must be purchased online at eldora.com.

Opening hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekends. Boulder County requires Eldora to charge a $10 single-vehicle parking fee on weekends, holidays and weekdays with 10 or more inches of new snow, the release said.

Eldora is also accessible by RTD bus from the downtown Boulder train station. The resort also plans to resume its Sustainable Transportation weekend program, offering free RTD tickets at the downtown Boulder train station and free shuttles from the Boulder County Justice Center parking lot at Sixth Street and Canyon Boulevard, the release said .

Three other ski resorts in Colorado — Arapahoe Basin, Keystone and Wolf Creek — have already opened for the season and several more plan to open in the next few weeks.
