Maine voters will cast their ballots in the race for president, U.S. Senate and the state's two U.S. House seats. Sen. Angus King Jr., the independent incumbent who caucuses with Democrats, is expected to be re-elected, according to ratings from the Cook Political Report. The House race in District 2 is considered a toss up.

In the Electoral College, Maine gives two electoral votes to the presidential candidate who wins statewide and one to the presidential candidate who receives the most votes in each of its two congressional districts.

Maine elections use ranked-choice voting. Voters rank their top four favorites in each race. If no one achieves a majority, the lowest-ranking candidate is eliminated and his or her supporters' second-choice votes are counted. The process continues until one candidate achieves a majority over another.

Maine will begin releasing results after polls close at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
