The last picture of Dame Maggie Smith before her death was for a Loewe fashion campaign

Dame Maggie Smith's final photo shoot before her death was iconic.

The acclaimed actress appeared in the October 2023 issue of Vogue and posed for luxury fashion brand Loewe.

Smith, who died on Friday at the age of 89, was photographed looking reservedly at the camera while wearing a huge fluffy coat and holding a Loewe's “signature puzzle bag.”

In other pictures taken by Jürgen Teller, the “Harry Potter” star wore a turtleneck dress and a ruffled skirt while clutching a Paseo bag.

Smith's two sons announced her death Friday morning.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dame Maggie Smith,” her sons Toby Stephens and Chris Larkin wrote in a statement.

“She passed away peacefully in the hospital this morning, Friday, September 27th,” continued the siblings Smith shared with his ex-husband Robert Stephens. “She was an extremely private person and ended up hanging out with friends and family.

“She leaves behind two sons and five loving grandchildren who are devastated by the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother,” they added. “We would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their care and tireless kindness during her final days.”

The siblings ended the statement by thanking Smith's fans and asking for “privacy at this time.”

Smith had an extensive career on stage and screen that spanned seven decades.

For her roles in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and California Suite, she won two Oscars, four Emmy Awards, a Tony Award and a number of British acting awards.

Other films she appeared in included “Sister Act,” “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,” “Hook,” “A Room with a View,” and “Death on the Nile.”

In later years, she won a new generation of fans with her portrayal of Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter film series.

She also thrilled audiences with her role as Violet Crawley in the British historical drama “Downton Abbey”.

Smith was created a dame by Queen Elizabeth in 1990.
