FRISCO, Texas (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys have acquired wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round pick from the Carolina Panthers for a 2025 fourth-round pick, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

Mingo, a 2023 second-round pick out of Mississippi, has 12 receptions for 121 yards this season. He has made one catch in the last four games and has only had two games with more than four catches in his career.

In Carolina, despite Adam Thielen's hamstring injury and the trade of Diontae Johnson, Mingo was behind 2024 first-round pick Xavier Legette, undrafted rookie Jalen Coker and 2017 seventh-round pick David Moore.

Getting a fourth-round pick for Mingo after he sent a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens and Johnson to Baltimore for a 2025 fifth-round pick last week had to feel like a victory for Carolina general manager Dan Morgan, trying to rebuild the 2-7 Panthers, who appear headed for a seventh straight losing season through the draft.

After Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons that left Dallas just 3-5 this season, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said the team has “a few things in the mill” for a trade but is not expecting one Blockbuster deal.

Without mentioning Mingo by name, Jones said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas that the receiver the Cowboys would acquire was someone who was very important to them during the draft process.

In 2018, the Cowboys traded a first-round pick to the Oakland Raiders for wide receiver Amari Cooper and experienced the turning point of their season when they finished 10-6 and won the NFC East and a playoff game.

This trade isn't that, but it does give the Cowboys some depth at a position this year and into the future as Mingo is under contract for two more seasons.

All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb is dealing with a sprained ACL in his right shoulder, but Mike McCarthy was hopeful he could play on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Brandin Cooks is eligible to begin practice this week but is expected to continue his rehab from knee surgery.

While Jalen Tolbert (30 catches, 353 yards, three touchdowns) was productive, the Cowboys' Nos. 4-6 receivers combined for 25 catches and a touchdown.
