According to court documents, the investigation began on Sept. 23 when Houston police received a report about Bryson's alleged attempt to sell her baby on Facebook.

Just days earlier, on September 21, Bryson had reportedly contacted a family member and asked if she knew of any families who would like to adopt. During the conversation, Bryson reportedly revealed that her baby would test positive for drugs and explained that she couldn't keep him.

Posting in a Facebook group aimed at connecting birth mothers with prospective adoptive parents, Bryson said she was in Houston but would be willing to travel if an arrangement could be made.

On September 24th, Bryson gave birth to her child in a hospital. An acquaintance who was present during labor and was reportedly interested in adopting the child was reportedly present. Police allege Bryson was at the hospital waiting for the “highest bidder” to finalize the adoption agreement.

Authorities were notified after social media users raised concerns about the legitimacy of the adoption. Court documents also allege that Bryson demanded compensation in exchange for the baby, a claim backed up by messages sent to potential adoptive parents.
