Latest FAU poll shows Amendment 3 at 60%; Change 4 at 58% • Florida Phoenix

A new public opinion poll of more than 900 registered voters in Florida shows that the proposed constitutional amendment to legalize adult recreational use of cannabis met the 60% needed for passage, but the abortion rights initiative fell short at 58%.

The survey of 913 registered voters was conducted by the Political Communication and Public Opinion Research Lab at Florida Atlantic University and Mainstreet Research USA between October 19th and 27th. It has an error rate of +/- 3.2%.

Amendment 3 is the measure that would legalize recreational marijuana in the state. The poll found 60% supported the measure, 34% opposed it and 6% were undecided.

Amendment 4 would repeal Florida's six-week abortion ban and restore full access until the point of viability, considered approximately 24 weeks. The poll found the measure fell just short of the required 60%, with 58% in favor, 32% against and 10% undecided.

In the presidential race, Donald Trump continues to have a comfortable lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in Florida, 53% to 44% among likely voters.

And in the race for the U.S. Senate seat, Rick Scott continues to maintain a lead over Democratic challenger Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, 50-46%, with 3% undecided.

Separately, FAU and Mainstreet Research USA conducted a nationwide survey of 937 presidential election voters. This result puts Harris ahead of Trump 49-47%.

When it comes to voting method in Florida, the poll found that a majority of Democrats (40%) prefer mail-in voting, while a majority of Republicans (39%) prefer voting on Election Day.
