Weather in Philadelphia: This is how the remnants of Hurricane Helene will affect the weekend

Hurricane Helene was downgraded to a tropical storm on Friday morning, but its impacts will be felt across the East Coast this weekend as its remnants move north.

Forecasters expect Philadelphia and surrounding areas to spend the weekend dodging passing showers left over from the once-powerful Category 4 hurricane.

FOX 29's Scott Williams says Philadelphia will remain on the “outer edge” of the storms as they turn north, meaning there won't be complete disaster over the weekend.

Forecasters say the best chance of rain on Friday will be from mid-morning to late afternoon, with a chance of passing showers that could be steady at times.

Persistent isolated storms are expected to continue overnight, leading to a unsettled Saturday with isolated showers and highs in the low to mid 70s.

Most of the rain should clear by Sunday, but forecasters do not rule out the risk of persistent rain remaining until early next week.
