The women's soccer team's season ends heartbreakingly in overtime

CORAOPOLIS, Pa – The IU Indianapolis women's soccer team's season ended in heartbreaking fashion on Sunday (Nov. 3), as the Jaguars were defeated 1-0 in overtime by No. 4 Robert Morris (6-6-6). RMU's Jillian Marvin headed a shot just over the senior goalkeeper Ashton Kudlo in the 92nd minute for the only goal of the game and the Colonials' place in the semifinals of the Horizon League tournament. The Jags' season ended abruptly with a record of 5-11-3.

The Jaguars were the dominant team for much of the final 70 minutes of regulation time, although they outscored the hosts 14-2 in the second half and failed on seven of those attempts.

Freshmen Keilah Muldrow was a threat offensively as he only missed three scoring opportunities as a sophomore Caroline Kelley did everything except score the goal in defeat.

Muldrow narrowly missed the crossbar in the 35th minute and Kelley missed the goal on the right edge in the 37th minute after RMU keeper Brenna Murray mishandled a ball in the 18-yard area.

Muldrow also had a chance when a ball flew over Murray's head, but was unable to adequately clear the attempt before it was cleared off the line by an RMU defender. Renner Abbey ripped off a rebound attempt from an RMU defender before the ball was eventually deflected.

Muldrow later hit the crossbar on an attempt from the right side in the 88th minute and Kelley's final chance of the game in the final minute of regulation time went wide to the right.

RMU scored the game-winning goal when Haleigh Finale sent a corner kick into the air from the Colonial line. Kudlo managed to knock the ball away, but not far enough as Marvin headed the loose ball just over the finish line, scoring their first goal of the year.

The Jaguars finished the game with a 19-12 lead and an 8-4 edge in shots on frame. Kelley had a game-high five shot attempts, while Muldrow and Maia Ransom had three a piece. Kudlo made three shots in her collegiate final, while Murray took credit for eight stops in the win.

RMU will face top-seeded Milwaukee in the semifinals, while the Jaguars are expected to cut eight seniors from this year's roster.
