Appetizers

9 John Tonje (6-5, Sr. G): The Missouri native earned sixth-year eligibility after missing most of last season with a foot injury. He played his first four years at Colorado State, where he scored 1,051 points and helped the Rams reach the 2022 NCAA Tournament. There he averaged 8.6 points and 2.9 rebounds, including 14.6 points and 4.7 rebounds in his final season.

11 Max Klesmit (6-4, Sr. G): The Neenah High School graduate has been an integral part of the Wisconsin roster since transferring from Wofford two years ago. He has 69 starts in the Cardinal and White. He averaged 9.9 points per game and hit 39.8% of his threes last season.

22 Steven Crowl (7-0, Sr. C): The fifth-grader has started every Badgers game over the last three seasons. Last year, he averaged 11.2 points, a career-high 7.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists. He also set career highs in field goal percentage (.556) and three-point percentage (.448).

25 John Blackwell (6-4, Soph. G): A promising season could be in store for Blackwell, who averaged eight points and 3.2 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game last season. He shot 44.6% overall and 45.5% from three-point range (30 of 66).

31 Nolan Winter (7-0, Soph. F): Winter weighs up to 235 pounds, 15 more than last season, and is ready to play alongside Crowl at power forward. He played in every game last season and averaged 9.4 minutes, 2.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.

Key reserves

3 Camren Hunter (6-1, Jr. G): The transfer from Central Arkansas to UW comes after he was sidelined last season with a foot injury. Two years ago, he averaged 16.9 points per game for the Bears.

4 Kamari McGee (6-0, Sr. G): The Racine St. Catherine graduate has played like a starter in the preseason, but coach Greg Gard appreciates the energy he can provide off the bench. McGee averaged 2.1 points per game in 25 appearances last season.

5 Daniel Freitag (6-2, Fr. G): The Bloomington, Minnesota native was a four-star recruit who was ranked as the ninth-best point guard in the 2024 class.

7 Carter Gilmore (6-7, Sr. F): The Arrowhead graduate is a master at doing the dirty work, but he's also shown the potential to get better from three-point range. The start of the season would be his 100thTh Game.

13 Xavier Amos (6-7, Jr. F): The Northern Illinois transfer was a fourth-team recruit but has shown he has the ability to do much more. Last season, he averaged 13.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and shot 38.5% from three-point range.

33 Jack Janicki (6-5, Ms. G): Janicki came to UW as a preferred backup but has little chance of making the rotation due to his ability to do things that impact wins but don't show up in the box score.

35 Markus Ilver (6-9, Sr. F): The Estonian native is building off a junior season in which he played 27 games and averaged 1.1 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.
