Trump and Kamala Harris are preparing for tomorrow's presidential election

Harris presented herself as a friend to people of Puerto Rican descent, appealing to voters turned off by a comedian's offensive joke about the island during Trump's rally in New York last month.

Harris opened her 20-minute appearance in this Hispanic-majority city by assuring voters that she has “a longstanding commitment to Puerto Rico” and, if elected, will be “a president for all Americans.”

She didn't mention Trump by name or mention the comedian's portrayal of Puerto Rico as a “floating island of trash.” But one message she and others conveyed at the event was that Hispanic voters in particular must reject Trump's candidacy.

One of the speakers who warmed up the audience was Fat Joe, an American rapper. He leaned on the lectern at Muhlenberg College and recounted some of what happened at the Trump rally at Madison Square Garden.

“It was full of hate,” he said. “My Latinos, where is your pride?”

Harris' appearance was part of a multi-city blitz in Pennsylvania, a key swing state whose 19 electoral votes are key to Harris' chances.

“This is it,” she told a cheering crowd gathered in the school gymnasium. “Just one more day. There is only one day left in one of the most consequential elections of our lifetime and the momentum is on our side. Can you feel it? We have momentum.”

Since she started in July, Harris has portrayed herself as an outsider. But on the eve of Election Day, she sounded bolder and more confident.

“Make no mistake; We will win,” she said.

As the campaign wound down, Harris avoided saying Trump's name, hoping to reach a more positive conclusion. Nevertheless, she attacked Trump with a few swipes. Pointing to Trump's focus on people he doesn't like, she said: “When I enter the White House, I will be working on my to-do list every day instead of stewing over an enemies list.”
