What will Spotify Wrapped 2024 look like? Here are my 3 predictions for this year's music roundup

Everyone's favorite annual music roundup is on the way, and we expect Spotify Wrapped 2024 to arrive sometime between late November and early December. Since Spotify remains unclear about exactly when this year's roundup will be released, we can only guess what features will be included – but that doesn't mean we don't have big ideas.

During last year's Wrapped, Spotify introduced a slew of fun features that garnered a lot of attention online, including “Sound Town.” Given that Spotify continues to offer new features like daily lists, in-app music videos, and newer features like offline backup playlists and custom playlist graphics, it will be interesting to see if Spotify integrates these into Wrapped 2024.

We still have a few weeks until one of the best music streaming services releases its annual music roundup, and I've already started brainstorming ideas about the features I'm expecting. These aren't set in stone and won't be until the day of Spotify Wrapped 2024 itself – but based on last year's features and what Spotify has done this year, they're the ones I'd like to see.

“Sound Town” is making a comeback

If you remember last year's Spotify Wrapped, Sound Town was the most memorable feature by a landslide, garnering a lot of attention on social media, particularly on TikTok. After Spotify presented you with your stats, it assigned you a city based on your music listening habits and the artists you visited most often.

There was never a dull moment when it came to people sharing their assigned cities on social media, especially when everyone joked about music fans being given Berkeley, USA (if you know, you know).

Considering how well users embraced this little feature last year, I wouldn't be surprised if Spotify dropped or brought back a similar feature with a geographical element.

Personality Profiling and “Me in 2024”

In 2022, Spotify began offering a Listening Personalities feature in its Wrapped roundup. Last year, the “Me in 2023” segment took a slightly different approach, grouping you into one of several profiles to categorize you based on your listening habits.

For example, if like me you've switched between many different artists, you may have fallen for the “Shapeshifter” profile, or if you had a tendency to revisit songs from music's past, you may have been more suited to the “period” Traveler personality .

But it wasn't just your listening habits that determined your category – if you were called an “Alchemist” last year, it meant you had a knack for creating your own playlist and relying on it for your listening sessions.

We all know that Spotify values the personalization factor and will stop at nothing to ensure that your music listening experience is unique to you. With that in mind, I'm confident Spotify will bring back a similar profiling feature in 2024.

Artists will have a stronger presence

No matter who came out on top in your Spotify Wrapped from last year, you would have received a video message from one of the many artists selected, including Taylor Swift, SZA and Troye Sivan. Pop music in 2024 has been more saturated than before, so I would naturally expect Spotify to capitalize on this for Wrapped 2024.

Regardless of whether Spotify brings back video messages or uses another method to bring artists directly to the platform, I am confident that we will at least see artists like Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan.

These three are obvious because they've all achieved rapid success in their own ways over the past year, and I'm obviously expecting another cameo from Taylor Swift herself as she's just embarking on the final dates of her The Eras Tour .

While video messages are the obvious format for this, I have a feeling Spotify has more up its sleeve for Wrapped 2024 and will once again improve on its artist videos from last year.
