Vikings acquire tackle Cam Robinson in trade with Jaguars

Vikings acquire tackle Cam Robinson in trade with Jaguars

According to PFF, Robinson was graded with four sacks, three QB hits and eight hurries in his 239 pass-blocking snaps in 2024.

The acquisition of Robinson, who turned 29 earlier this month, is in response to the loss of Christian Darrisaw to ACL and MCL injuries he suffered in Minnesota's loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Oct. 24. The slight bright spot in Darrisaw's injury was well-timed, as it arrived before this year's trade deadline (November 5).

Last season, Minnesota signed quarterback Joshua Dobbs in Week 9 after Kirk Cousins suffered a season-ending Achilles tendon injury in Week 8 at Green Bay. In 2022, the Vikings acquired tight end TJ Hockenson from Detroit in Week 9 after Irv Smith, Jr. was placed on Injured Reserve.

In each of the last two seasons, the player acquired was a key contributor to Minnesota's Week 9 wins.

Hockenson caught nine passes for 70 yards on nine targets in his Vikings debut in 2022 in Washington, and Dobbs came off the bench last year (after Jaren Hall suffered a concussion in Atlanta) and led the game-winning drive against the Falcons.

Robinson stands 6-foot-3 and has 35 1/2-inch arms, generally considered prototypical dimensions for a left tackle.

The timing of Robinson's acquisition comes just before the Vikings' three-game series against AFC South teams, starting with Indianapolis (4-4). Football on Sunday evenings and continued with trips to Jacksonville (2-6) and Tennessee (1-6).

Last week, the Vikings replaced Darrisaw with veteran David Quessenberry, who has served as left and right tackle for Minnesota since 2023.
