Wild goes on to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1 in overtime

Kirill Kaprizov had no points, a rarity this season, but that didn't stop the Wild.

They finally defeated the Maple Leafs 2-1 in overtime at the Xcel Energy Center on Sunday night to earn their third straight win.

A breakaway by Matt Boldy made it a 1-1 tie with 2 minutes and 46 seconds left in overtime.

This was only the second time this season that Kaprizov went pointless, and his franchise-record multiple point streak ended after seven games.

With his 21 points, he is in a three-way battle for the league lead with Cale Makar from Colorado and Sam Reinhart from Florida.

Toronto goaltender Anthony Stolarz finished the game with 31 saves, while Filip Gustavsson made 27 saves for the Wild; he is now 6-1-1.

The Wild (8-1-2) initially led when Ryan Hartman deflected the puck 10:19 into the first period after a Frederick Gaudreau backhand hit the post.

But the Wild faded for the remainder of the period while the Leafs increased their pressure – their pressure culminated in a power play equalizer (1-2) at 19:08 by William Nylander, who scored off a pass from Auston Matthews.
