The Seattle Seahawks have struggled to maintain their lead this season. Mike Macdonald's inconsistent unit will enter Sunday's Week 9 game against the Los Angeles Rams, averaging 29th-ranked 148.4 rushing yards per game. The challenge against Rams running back Kyren Williams will be significant.

Seattle allows the fifth-highest yards per carry average (4.9) in the league. Veteran defensive lineman Leonard Williams met with the media after practice on Thursday and asked questions about run defense. Williams gave an incredibly detailed answer.

“When you try to fix something (run defense) for a couple of weeks, there's a lot of competition on this team,” Williams began. There are people who want to put everything (the blame) on their shoulders, which is respectable. Everyone is competitive, they want to be the one who makes the game. At times like this we end up trying to do other people's work and that affects the rest of the defense. It's all about consistency, just do your job consistently and we'll all come together as 11 eventually. It’s about going back to basics and trusting that your teammate will do their job,” Williams concluded.

The Rams average a seventh-worst 101.3 rushing yards per game. Their 3.9 yards per carry average ranks 30th in the league. This despite the fact that superstar running back Kyren Williams scored a touchdown in every game this season. Seattle's defense will try to stay disciplined against LA's faltering ground attack on Sunday.
