Jason Kelce was taken to task by the host for smashing a fan's phone in a video

Jason Kelce was taken to task by the host for smashing a fan's phone in a video

A Philadelphia-based podcast and YouTube host says Jason Kelce needs reassurance in encounters like the one on Saturday, when a fan used a homophobic slur while discussing his brother Travis Kelce and the Chiefs star's relationship with singer Taylor Swift spoke – and Kelce responded by slamming the fan's phone on the ground.

According to Jon Marks, Kelce shouldn't have slammed the phone due to his high status as a celebrity.

“Kelce needs to realize that his profile as a player is higher than ever,” Marks, a former sports radio host in the city where Kelce spent his 13-year career as Eagles center, wrote in a post on X. “He deserves it a lot of money on (multiple) platforms and his brother could marry the biggest pop star of all time. He can't tap people's phones. He needs security to deal with this shit.”

With Penn State hosting Ohio State, Kelce appeared on “College GameDay” outside Beaver Stadium and attempted two shots during the ESPN show's field goal challenge – after two misses, he joked that he wasn't good at kicking .

Then a video surfaced mid-afternoon of Kelce walking down the street with a case of Garage Beer, and at one point a fan in a sweatshirt yelled, “Kelce, how does it feel that your brother is into dating.” “Taylor Swift?”

Kelce turned around to see who made the comment before grabbing the person's phone and smashing it onto the pavement.

In another video, Kelce was later seen yelling at the same fan and using the same homophobic slur: “Who's the devil now?”

Kelce, who co-hosts the “New Heights” podcast with Travis and signed a “Monday Night Countdown” deal with ESPN following his NFL retirement at the end of last season, has not addressed the incident or his reaction on social media.

Some X users disagreed with Marks' opinion and supported Kelce in destroying the phone.

“He can and did,” one wrote in a response. “But when it comes to safety, I agree.”

“I know you don't plan on disrespecting my brother to my face man,” another user added.

Travis and Swift made their relationship public in September 2023 when she began attending Chiefs games as part of their “Eras Tour” shows. Travis traveled to her concerts in between his NFL commitments and the couple attracted a lot of attention on date nights around New York City.

Since the Chiefs don't play until Monday in Week 9, when they host the Buccaneers at Arrowhead Stadium, he attended Swift's show in Indianapolis on Saturday.
