The two know each other very well, have played against each other and won doubles titles together.

They have been the top two ranked players in America for some time and both are in Saudi Arabia aiming to win their first WTA Finals title.

The two have had bright spots this season and hope to end their 2024 campaign in Riyadh with success.

What did Jessica Pegula say about meeting Coco Gauff in the WTA final?

Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff belong to the orange group of the WTA finals along with Iga Swiatek and Barbora Krejčíková. Saturday will not be the American duo's first meeting at the season-ending event.

They faced each other at the 2023 WTA Finals in Cancun, where Pegula took the victory despite losing just three games, thereby securing her place in the final.

Both players have been through so much since then, with Pegula reaching her first Grand Slam final while Gauff won her second WTA 1000 title at the China Open.

Before their sixth meeting, Pegula assessed how their matches would stack up against each other on a hard court.

“It depends. I think it suits my game. At the same time, Coco, she's pretty good indoors too. She's had good success indoors. Obviously he's got a really big first serve. If she serves really well, she can I think it will be difficult,” Pegula told reporters.

“I think it suits my game. For this reason, how we serve matters. You know she's going to move great and get a lot of extra balls back.

“I don't know. On an intermediate court, I feel like it benefits me. At the same time, I feel like she's fast enough to get a lot of extra balls back, which other girls might not be able to do. So yeah, I think It will be a tricky duel.”

What is Jessica Pegula's head-to-head record against Coco Gauff?

Pegula and Gauff have played against each other five times and the 30-year-old has a clear lead.

She has won four of her meetings, including the most recent competition at the Berlin Open in June, where Pegula won 7-5, 7-6(2).

Gauff's only win against Pegula came at the 2023 Eastbourne Open with a 6-3, 6-3 result.

The 20-year-old is one of the in-form players at the WTA finals and likes her chances of another victory over her doubles partner.
