Is Brian Robinson Jr. playing today? Full injury update for Commanders RB in Week 9

Is Brian Robinson Jr. playing today? Full injury update for Commanders RB in Week 9

Brian Robinson Jr. has proven to be a valuable part of the Washington Commanders' offensive strategy this season. The running back provides a physical presence as part of his outstanding partnership with Austin Ekeler. He's also getting the carries he needs after becoming disillusioned under former play-caller Eric Bieniemy.

Robinson's status for Week 9 was in doubt given Washington's trip to the New York Giants. The former third-round pick has already missed one game all season due to knee problems. The powers that be took every precaution possible throughout the week as another complication loomed.

The device from Alabama was only used to a limited extent in practice due to a problem with the hamstring muscles. Robinson was listed as questionable for the collision and commanders also appointed Chris Rodriguez Jr. to address additional concerns.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport initially provided some additional clarification that allayed fans' concerns. The insider revealed that the Commanders plan to take on Robinson, although they will wait to see how the player feels this morning before making their final decision.

That practice before the game didn't go well. Robinson didn't move around too freely and was then seen having long discussions with Quinn and running backs coach Anthony Lynn. The player's post-practice social media post all but confirmed concerns about his commitment to MetLife Stadium.

Without Robinson, life will be more difficult for the commanders, there is no way around it. Promoting Rodriguez was the right decision – something that only reinforces how this new-look staff covers all bases and leaves absolutely nothing to chance.

Commanders fans can expect a backfield approach from the committee without Robinson. Combined with the fact that Daniels may still be suffering from rib discomfort, the new development should be closely monitored
