'RRR' star NTR Jr's 'Devara' fetches .5 million in pre-sales

“Devara Part 1,” Indian star NTR Jr's next film after the Golden Globe and Oscar-winning “RRR,” has grossed $3.5 million in global ticket sales, producers have announced.

The film is produced by Kosaraju Hari Krishna and Sudhakar Mikkilineni under the banners NTR Arts (“Bimbisara”) and Yuvasudha Arts respectively and presented by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram.

At Thursday's world premiere at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, the 516 seats sold out in nine minutes, producers said. Aside from the US, where the film grossed US$2.5 million in advance sales for its September 27 release, it has already collected A$300,000 (US$206,700) in Australia and 24,000 tickets in the UK for shows on the first sold day.

The action saga is set in coastal India and reunites NTR Jr. with his 'Janatha Garage' director Koratala Siva, whose last film was 'Acharya' with megastar Chiranjeevi and 'RRR' star Ram Charan. NTR Jr plays the fearless Devara, a man who navigates the dangerous waters of betrayal and betrayal to protect his people. The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor (“Ulajh”) and Saif Ali Khan (“Vikram Vedha”) in key roles.

Indian trade analyst Taran Adarsh said: “The international anticipation for 'Devara: Part 1' is unprecedented.” From man of the masses to master of millions, NTR Jr not only opens doors for Indian cinema, he also writes its rule book on the global stage. This level of cross-cultural appeal for an Indian film heralds a new era where pan-Indian stars have the power to dominate the global box office charts.”

The cast also includes Prakash Raj, Srikanth Meka, Tom Shine Chacko and Narain. The film features music by Anirudh Ravichander (“Leo”), cinematography by R. Rathnavelu (“Sarileru Neekevvaru”), production design by Sabu Cyril (“RRR”) and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad (“RRR”).

The film will be released worldwide in two parts in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam languages. Prathyangira Cinemas is distributing the film in the US and DreamZ Entertainment is distributing the film in the UK. Tolly Movies is releasing the film to 1,168 theaters in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea, one of the largest releases ever for an Indian film.
