Credit Union faces failure while announcing best cities for veterans

Marine League: Navy Federal Credit Union is dealing with a significant outage in its mobile and online banking services that began early Friday morning. According to Downdetector, reports of problems started appearing around 8:20 a.m. and peaked just before 9:06 a.m. with 873 reports. Users experienced issues accessing their accounts and were greeted with a maintenance icon in the app indicating that services were temporarily offline.

In an official statement, Navy Federal acknowledged the difficulties and said, “We are aware of the intermittent issues impacting our mobile and online banking platforms and are actively working to restore these services.” We apologize the inconvenience.” While the team is working to resolve these technical issues, the exact cause of the outage has not yet been disclosed.

Supporting veterans with valuable resources

Amid these banking challenges, Navy Federal Credit Union also released its 2024 Best Cities After Service report in collaboration with Sperling's Best Places. The goal of this annual initiative is to help veterans and their families find the best locations to settle as they transition into civilian life.

Clay Stackhouse, a former Marine and manager at Navy Federal, emphasized the importance of this report, which evaluates different cities based on crucial factors such as income, unemployment rate and proximity to VA hospitals. This year, Sarasota, Florida took the top spot on the list, replacing Charleston, South Carolina from last year.

In addition to highlighting the best cities for veterans, the report also includes categories such as “Best Cities to Buy a Home,” “Best Cities to Retire,” and “Best Small Towns by Service.” With approximately 200,000 military personnel transitioning into civilian life each year, this resource serves as a valuable tool for making informed decisions about where to settle.
