Brandon Moreno returned to form and even more so as he delivered a one-sided performance in the main event of UFC Edmonton.

The two-time UFC flyweight champion dominated Amir Albazi blow-to-blow over five rounds, earning a unanimous decision victory and being eliminated in two fights along the way.

Moreno swept two of the judges' cards, while the third judge's score for “The Assassin Baby” was 49-46.

The action began at a methodical pace with both fighters choosing their shots. Moreno landed a powerful right hand punch, marking the most significant strike of the opening round. As the round progressed, the counter combinations began to land for Moreno, along with a brutal leg kick that brought Albazi to his knees. A short uppercut from Moreno ended the verse.

Moreno continued to pound Albazi on the feet, but Albazi landed a perfectly timed takedown, which the former champion was immediately able to shake off and get back to work. Albazi landed a sneaky left hook early in the third round, but seconds later Moreno opened a cut under Albazi's right eye. While Albazi showed slight improvement in the third round, the momentum continued for Moreno and he built a big lead heading into the championship rounds.

Moreno's dominance continued into the fourth round, and after Albazi glanced at Moreno, the action briefly stopped in the fifth round. After a near-miss and a scramble, Moreno injured Albazi with a powerful strike. Albazi, bloodied and battered, managed to survive until the final whistle and the final 25 seconds were a slugfest that Moreno made the most of.

With the victory, Moreno surpassed Demetrious Johnson to become the most significant strikes in UFC flyweight history with over 1,100.

Albazi suffers his first UFC defeat in his comeback for the first time since June 2023.
