In ten duels so far, Union Berlin had not managed a win against FC Bayern, even in the eleventh game it was all for the record champions after just a quarter of an hour.

The Munich team, in which Upamecano, Guerreiro, Olise and Coman started instead of Dier, Laimer, Sané and Gnabry (all bench) compared to the 4-0 win in the cup in Mainz, started with a lot of ball possession, although initially none against well-positioned guests Gap found. When Hollerbach fouled Olise in the penalty area, Kane had the chance to score his tenth goal of the season from the spot – and the Englishman didn't miss it (15th).

FCB continued to be dominant on the ball and repeatedly built up attacks. In the final third, however, there was a lack of final consistency, also because Union kept cleverly condensing the spaces. The Köpenickers came into their own offensive, with starting eleven debutants Querfelder, Trimmel, Kemlein, Hollerbach and Jeong starting instead of Skov, Haberer, Schäfer, Vertessen and Benes (all bench) after the 0-2 cup disappointment in Bielefeld. However, it was rare – also because switching situations were not played out properly.

The focus of coach Bo Svensson's team, who had already beaten Bayern three times with Mainz, continued to be largely on defense. There, despite Munich's constant pressure, the Iron Men managed to offer very little and repeatedly blocked them at the crucial moment. Guerreiro also shot Rönnow right into the arms (26th). His counterpart Neuer was only really challenged once in the first half, but he quickly directed a shot from Jordan over the crossbar (33').

Coman refines Kane's template

Shortly before the break, his front men followed up with a nice move: Kane delicately and sensitively smacked a pass from birthday boy Davies (24) into the path of Coman, who finished from a tight angle to make it 2-0 (43').

The goal music sounded even faster than in the first half in the Allianz Arena and then after the restart: Coman put in a Guerreiro cross and Kane pushed it over the line just before Musiala's finale (51').

The party was now basically decided, but the Munich team continued and repeatedly pushed Union deep into the penalty area. Musiala (57th) and substitute Sané (70th) had further opportunities.

Aznou makes his debut

Because very little came from Union, the 18-year-old Bayern talent Aznou was also able to celebrate his debut (80th). Overall, however, there was a lack of great speed in the final phase, scenes in the goal area were consequently rare, only Coman (87th) and Sané (90th) tested Rönnow – that didn't change the result.

The Munich team made the week perfect with their third clean sheet win in the series and are ready for the Champions League. Bayern await Benfica there on Wednesday (9 p.m.). In the league, the trip to St. Pauli follows (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.). Union opens the 9th matchday with the home game against Freiburg (8.30 p.m.).
