Talk about the right place at the right time. An avid Dodger fan was lucky enough to attend two of the most memorable World Series games in team history.

Hundreds of fans gathered in front of the Dodger Stadium sign that was transformed into an impromptu memorial to the late icon, pitcher Fernando Valenzuela, whose 64th birthday would have been Friday.

One fan told ABC7 that he was there in person at Game 1 in 1988 when the hobbled Kirk Gibson hit a walk-off home run, followed by an iconic fist pump as he rounded the bases.

And that same fan was there at the first game of this year's World Series when Freddie Freeman hit the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history.

“I am one of the most blessed people in the world,” he said. “I was at the first game in 1988 when Kirk Gibson hit the home run. And I was here when Freddie made it.
