Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount could feature against Crystal Palace, but Erik ten Hag will have to make a last-minute decision before the trip to Selhurst Park.

Hojlund, 21, has been out since suffering a thigh injury in July, while Mount, 25, has also missed the last two games due to a thigh injury.

But both have recently returned to first-team training and Ten Hag says he is considering their immediate inclusion.

“Very good news, they are back on the pitch, back in team training. We have to decide if they are fit enough to start. Very pleasing to have them back,” said Ten Hag. “Many games in this block need to be covered. We have to make the final decision. They have done a few training sessions, we have to see how they recover. Then we will make the final decision tomorrow.”

Manchester United suffered a lot of injuries last season and Ten Hag knows he has to be careful when it comes to reintegrating players.

“Careful and top-class football? You always push the limits,” he said. “It's unavoidable, but when you have a full squad available, it's easier to manage the load… We have to overload them, we hope to integrate them very carefully.”

Ten Hag also said Marcus Rashford's return to goalscoring quality will inject confidence into his team. Rashford went 12 United games without a goal before scoring at Southampton and then scoring a convincing brace against League Cup opponents Barnsley in midweek.

“Very good, of course, that your striker is scoring goals at a young age. Strikers need that belief. Very good for the team. It will strengthen their belief.”
