Aaron Gordon is subtly calling out other NBA teams while making claims about the Nuggets' play

Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon just signed a four-year, $133 million contract extension and is feeling good — mentally and physically.

With his long-term future secured, Gordon is ready to enter the 2024-25 NBA season with a clear mind and a full heart. He's focused on the season and all the challenges it brings for him and the Nuggets, including the league's obvious goal of allowing more physicality.

When speaking to reporters on the topic, Gordon was extremely candid, saying that a tougher brand of basketball would ultimately benefit him and the Nuggets. He believes they are designed for a faster style of player, especially compared to other teams. Whether accidentally or not, the eleventh year vet seemed to have set his sights on the rest of the association.

“We’ll see,” Gordon explained (h/t Adam Mares of ALLCITY Network/DNVR Sports) as to whether officials will legitimately allow more contact. “People start whining and then they (referees) start calling ticky-tacks (fouls) again. I hope they allow more physicality – we are a physical team. We won't fail because of this team. We don’t even do that.’ I really embellish this team.

Which players/squad could Gordon be referring to who complain about whistles or who flop around the field hoping to get a call? Was he talking about anyone? Or was it just a general statement? We'll leave that up to interpretation, but it's a fun and thought-provoking exercise.

As a big man who isn't afraid to hit, Gordon should take a tougher approach to the game. At 6-foot-3 and weighing 235 pounds, he has the size and strength to handle it. Additionally, the No. 4 draft pick in 2014 is one of the best athletes in the sport, which only further strengthens his case. Still, this is all a moot point if the way competitions are run doesn't change.
