Wet and stormy, with mild temperatures

A wet and stormy Tuesday with mild temperatures is ahead

  • TUESDAY: Showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy. High: 78
  • TONIGHT: Rain and thunderstorms easing. Cloudy. Low: 65
  • WEDNESDAY: Cloudy. A few showers. High: 79
  • THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy skies. High: 82

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will make for wet and slippery morning traffic. Temperatures will rise above 25 degrees. Umbrellas will be working overtime today as more rain showers and thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon.

The Storm Prediction Center is rating Central Ohio as having a moderate risk of severe weather (Level 1 of 5). An isolated strong storm could bring gusty winds, hail and heavy rain. Although the risk is low, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, especially in southern Ohio.

Isolated showers may continue into the evening before the rain subsides. It will remain cloudy tonight, with lows of around 18 degrees.

Most of the showers will be in southern Ohio on Wednesday as the cold front moves out of the area. Cloudy and mostly overcast skies will remain through Thursday, with brief dry spells before a tropical system brings more moisture.

According to the 2:00 a.m. warning, Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine will become Tropical Storm Helene later today. It will strengthen into a hurricane and impact the Florida Panhandle. Eventually, it will move into the Ohio River Valley.

The chance of rain increases by Friday evening and may continue into the weekend.
