Sydney Sweeney will play legendary film star Kim Novak in Colman Domingo's Sammy Davis Jr. biopic Scandalous at Miramax, according to an insider with knowledge of the project.

The Miramax project marks the directorial debut of the “Rustin” Oscar nominee and stars David Jonsson as the legendary entertainer. Although plot details are kept secret, the film centers on the scandalous and brief love affair between Novak and the Rat Packer that took place in 1957. Matthew Fantaci wrote the screenplay.

Principal photography on “Scandalous” will take place in Los Angeles after Sweeney and Domingo wrap the third season of HBO’s “Euphoria.” Sweeney will produce the project alongside Tani Cohen and Bobby Roth. Jon Levin is the executive producer.

According to Deadline, which first reported the news, “Before becoming CEO of Miramax, Jon Glickman launched the project at Panoramic and stayed on.”

Most recently, Domingo starred in “Rustin” and “Sing” and received critical acclaim. Domingo is also working on a film about Nat King Cole, in which he will also star and direct. Domingo is repped by WME and Liebman Entertainment.

Sweeney will next be seen in Ron Howard's “Eden,” due in theaters in September. Sweeney most recently took turns in “Madame Web” and “Immaculate.” She is represented by Paradigm.
