Nima Momeni trial continues – NBC Bay Area

The murder trial of Nima Momeni, who is charged with the murder of Cash App founder Bob Lee, continued on Monday, with Momeni's sister resuming her testimony.

Khazar Momeni's testimony began shortly before 10 a.m. with direct questioning by prosecutors, who initially focused on a series of texts exchanged between Nima and Khazar.

One specific text submitted said: “I won’t call the police too because you called them too.”

Prosecutors reviewed previous statements from Khazar in which she said she was devastated by Lee's death and may never smile again.

The questions continued in the days leading up to April 4, 2023, the day Lee was killed.

Khazar's testimony is crucial for both prosecutors and defense attorneys. She is currently a witness for the prosecution, but what she says could be damaging to the case both sides want to make, says legal analyst Steven Clark.

“While her testimony to the prosecution is unclear, with her frequently saying, 'I don't remember' or 'I was under the influence,' it will be interesting to see if her testimony becomes clearer as the defense begins questioning.” Clark said.

Khazar was one of the last people to see Bob Lee alive. She testified that Lee was erratic the weekend before his death. She also once said she blocked his calls. But during questioning today, Khazar repeatedly said she couldn't remember what happened or the text message she sent because she was high.
