NEW YORK — Early Friday afternoon, floodwaters inundated the streets of Howard Beach, Queens in New York City.

New York City Emergency Management officials warn that flooding could occur in other parts of the city, including the Bronx.

“The tide is beginning to go out in this area but will rise again in the Bronx in a few hours. There are currently no reports of major impacts to the city, but our coastal flooding travel advisory remains in effect even at high tide,” the Office of Emergency Management posted on social media Friday morning.

A Flood warning on the coast was issued for moderate flooding in parts of Queens and the Bronx, as well as Fairfield, Nassau and Westchester counties through Saturday evening. Flood warning on the coast also applies to minor flooding in other parts of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

City officials say the higher than usual tides are thanks to this week's full moon.
