Liam Payne's autopsy revealed that the One Direction singer died of “polytrauma” and “internal and external bleeding.”

Payne died on Wednesday, October 16, “as a result of a fall he suffered from the balcony of the room on the third floor of the hotel in the Buenos Aires district of Palermo where he was staying,” according to the Criminal and Police Prosecutor's Office Correctional Institutions No. 16, temporarily headed by Marcelo Roma. Authorities confirmed that Payne died after 5 p.m. at the Hotel Casa Sur in the Palermo neighborhood on Costa Rica Street. An employee called 911 and asked for help for a guest who was “under the influence of drugs and alcohol and had destroyed some items in the room.”

Upon arrival, officers discovered that “Payne had already fallen from the balcony of his room and died at the scene as a result of the severity of his injuries.”

His body was then shifted to the mortuary where an autopsy was conducted between 9:45 p.m. and 11:05 p.m. The forensic pathologists requested histopathological, biochemical and toxicological examinations.

“At this time, analysis of stomach contents, alcohol and blood toxins, vitreous humor, bile, nasal swab and urine was required to determine alcohols and toxins,” the report said.
