Summer time is coming to an end and you should resort to longer nights

Like clockwork, with the season of pumpkin spice, fall leaves and cooler temperatures comes the annual practice of turning back the clock.

Set your calendar and prepare for the night to fall earlier. Daylight Saving Time (DST) 2024 will end in less than three weeks. Winter time begins at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 3rd

For many, the event offers the opportunity to sleep in an extra hour.

But those who dislike this practice find it disruptive to their schedule and internal clock.

As we prepare for the “backslide,” some may be wondering what happened to the implementation of Proposition 7, a state ballot measure approved by voters nearly six years ago that allows the California Legislature to change Daylight Saving Time , by either introducing it year-round or getting rid of it.

According to Proposal 7, the change can only take place if the federal government allows this and is also approved by the state parliament with a two-thirds majority.

Without state and federal approval, which has not happened, California will continue to implement the current daylight saving time policy.

The U.S. Department of Transportation, which is responsible for managing the country's time zones, monitors compliance with daylight saving time.

Almost all states, except Hawaii and most of Arizona, follow this practice.

For those who enjoy the longer daylight hours, Daylight Saving Time doesn't return until March 9, 2025.
