When will Spectrum restore internet service in the state of South Carolina?

More than 50,000 Upstate Spectrum customers remain without internet access two weeks after Hurricane Helene.

Scott Pryzwansky, senior director of Spectrum's Mid-South region at Charter Communications, said Friday that initially about 1.2 million customers were left without service following the storm in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Field technicians have restored service to about 80% of customers, he said.

Spectrum reported on its website that 395,000 customers in South Carolina were offline at the peak of the storm. Greenville and Spartanburg counties were the hardest hit. As of 4 p.m. Friday, 38,762 customers in Greenville County, 20,616 in Spartanburg County, 11,101 in Anderson County and 5,559 in Pickens County were without internet.

Pryzwansky said more than 100 technicians and engineers are traveling across the Upstate to repair more than 188 miles of network damage.

“Our teams immediately follow local utilities as they do their work,” he said. “We will continue to actively monitor conditions and complete recovery in our remaining communities as quickly as possible.”
