Match Review: Football | October 12, 2024

BOZEMAN, Mont. – Idaho struggled to find momentum on offense as Montana State took control early and the third-ranked Bobcats beat No. 7 Idaho 38-7 on Saturday night in Bozeman.

MSU got into the game with a 65-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. Idaho's offense failed to gain momentum in the first half, and Montana State's rushing attack took advantage, rushing for 192 yards in the first half, more than Idaho had in a game against any of its first six opponents in this one season.

MSU added a 34-yard touchdown pass and another rushing touchdown before closing the half with a 34-yard field goal to take a 24-0 lead at halftime.

Injuries continued to bother the vandals. Run back Nate Thomas not played. Starting quarterback Nick Josifek missed the first half due to injury. Run back Elisha Cummings He also missed most of the second half due to injury.

The Vandals got the game started with a nine-yard touchdown Jack Wagner To Deshaun Buchanan for his first career touchdown with 43 seconds left in the game.

Buchanan led the Vandals with 49 yards rushing and nine carries. Wagner finished the game 11-23 with 134 yards passing with an interception and a touchdown.

Montana State was the fifth straight FCS opponent for Idaho and the fifth road game in the first seven games of the season for the Vandals. Idaho advances to the final portion of the schedule, which includes three of the next four home games. Their last five opponents have a combined record of 9-23. Idaho also gets a break with a bye week on November 2nd.
