Saints QB Derek Carr will miss several games due to an oblique injury

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr is expected to miss several games due to an oblique injury, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport.

Carr was injured in the fourth quarter of the Saints' 26-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night. He suffered a hit on a fourth-down pass that was incomplete and not returned for the team's final offensive possession.

Carr has completed 70.3% of his passes for New Orleans (2-3) this season, the second-best mark of his career. He has thrown eight touchdowns and four interceptions in five weeks and ranks 10th in the NFL with a quarterback rating of 63.6.

However, the Saints struggled after a hot start to the season. After winning its first two games, New Orleans has lost three straight. The offensive has also cooled down. The Saints scored 91 points in the first two weeks of the season, but only 67 in the final three weeks.

“Not good,” Carr said when asked how he felt after Monday’s loss.

In Carr's absence, New Orleans will rely on rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler, a fifth-round pick.

Haener was suspended for the first six games of last season after failing a performance-enhancing drug test. He replaced Carr against Kansas City and completed just two of seven passes for 17 yards. He only threw one other career pass, which was also incomplete.

The Saints' next two games are on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the following Thursday against the Denver Broncos.
