Everything Raiders coach Pierce said after the embarrassing loss to the Panthers

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – No matter how you describe the Las Vegas Raiders’ (1-2) 36-22 loss to the Carolina Panthers (1-2), you’re simply being unfair if the word “embarrassing” isn’t part of the description.

The Panthers, widely regarded as one of the worst-run franchises in professional sports, benched quarterback Bryce Young and started veteran Andy Dalton instead. Despite his considerable success with the Silver and Black, the Raiders should have won this game.

At times it seemed chaotic and inferior, and a talented Raider team was inferior in terms of coaching and playing style.

The fearsome Raiders defense had no answer, making Andy Dalton and the Panthers offense look like the Tom Brady-led New England Patriots of 2007, and the Silver and Black offense, or at least the lack thereof, made the Panthers look like the Chicago Bears of 1985.

Yes, this loss was so bad.

In the five years I've covered this team, I've never seen a Raiders team this bad overall.

Coach Antonio Pierce spoke about the loss in his post-match press conference. You can watch it all here:

I've been to every game at Allegiant Stadium, which boasted one of the Raider Nation's best home crowds in the stadium's history, but the atmosphere Coach Antonio Pierce sought was wasted, and its energy quickly turned into boos echoing from the seats as the Panthers dominated.

On a day that should have ended with a celebration of success because the Raiders exploited their weaknesses and stooped to the level of their opponent, the home team wallowed in mediocrity.

There are still fourteen games left, but the Raiders have no time to fix the problems.
