76ers star reacts to Nick Castellano's game-winning hit for the Phillies

On the eve of the Philadelphia 76ers' season opener, the Philadelphia Phillies went head-to-head with the New York Mets in the second game of their MLB postseason series. Joel Embiid was attentive to what was happening and soaked up the exciting game.

Sunday's game wasn't necessarily a life-or-death situation for the Phillies, but a loss would certainly have ruined their chances of coming out of the series victorious.

In Game 1 on Saturday, the Phillies led by one run for eight innings. Towards the end of the game, the Mets got hot and paid for having a quiet batting night. In the end, the Mets defeated the Phillies 6-2 and took a 1-0 lead on the road.

Game 2 on Sunday was a back-and-forth battle that kept Embiid entertained.

The Mets took the lead in the third inning and took a 2-0 lead over Philadelphia. It wasn't until the sixth inning that the Phillies finally got into the game. After trailing 3-0, back-to-back home runs allowed the Phillies to win the game. That would last half an inning as the Mets got another hit in the seventh.

While trailing 4-3, the Phillies scored three runs in the eighth inning, making up for their mistake from last night. However, that wasn't enough to drive New York away. A two-run home run in the bottom of the bottom was enough for the Mets to tie the game before half of the Phillies' ninth inning.

Fortunately, no additional innings were necessary. Phillies star Nick Castellanos had a walk-off hit that brought in a runner and gave the Phillies a 7-6 victory.

“What a game!!!” Embiid wrote on X.

The Phillies will have one day to travel to New York on Monday. Meanwhile, Embiid and the Sixers will travel to the Wells Fargo Center for their preseason debut.

The Sixers and New Zealand Breakers will square off at 7:00 p.m. ET. on Monday.
