Two of college football's top five teams fell to their weaker opponents on Saturday, adding to the tension that has been the season so far.

No. 1 Alabama fell to Vanderbilt, while No. 4 Tennessee fell to Arkansas. The results came a week after the Crimson Tide defeated Georgia in a wild matchup. No. 25 Texas A&M also defeated No. 9 Missouri.

Elsewhere, Washington defeated No. 10 Michigan, Minnesota upset No. 11 USC and SMU overwhelmed No. 22 Louisville.

Vanderbilt: What a monster win for the Commodores football program. Clark Lea convinces his players of what he's building in Nashville, and that paid off big time against Alabama on Saturday night. Quarterback Diego Pavia is a problem and he plays like Johnny Manziel. Kudos also to the Vandy fans for celebrating in downtown Nashville. These people deserved such a victory.

Vanderbilt fans: Vanderbilt fans understood the task. After the Commodores defeated the Crimson Tide, fans stormed the field to celebrate the historic victory. A goal post quickly fell down and fans managed to get him out of FirstBank Stadium, where they were able to carry him around Nashville before eventually throwing him into the Cumberland River.

Indiana: The Hoosiers are 6-0 this season, which is the first time since 1967. I am fascinated by head coach Curt Cignetti as he leads this Indiana program to success. After beating Northwestern on Saturday, this team has a chance to be 9-0 heading into the Ohio State game. The Hoosiers are definitely making a lot of noise in the Big Ten, and it's deservedly so.

Arkansas: How about these pigs? There was thought that this would be Sam Pittman's last season in Fayetteville, but his team just beat No. 4 Tennessee and picked up a breakthrough win. They beat the Vols while starting QB Taylen Green limped in the fourth quarter. The Razorbacks' defense deserves credit for limiting the Vols' offense to just 14 points.

Ashton Jeanty: It was so much fun watching Jeanty get eliminated every week and he didn't disappoint with the 62-30 win. He had 186 yards and three more touchdowns to add to his resume for the year. Jeanty has only played five games and has already racked up over 1,000 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns. Just think about it.

Army and Navy: While we can still focus on all the upsets, let's support two Armed Forces teams as Army and Navy remain undefeated to start the season. Both teams are 5-0 for the first time since 1945, when Navy beat Air Force 34-7 and Army defeated Tulsa 49-7. While the focus is usually on the rivalry game, both teams have a chance to compete for an AAC title.

Ohio State: The Buckeyes' schedule has been relatively tight so far this season. But in Week 6, Ohio State faced perhaps its toughest test yet. While the Buckeyes got off to a bit of a slow start against the Iowa Hawkeyes, the offense got going again in the second half as Ohio State cruised to a 35-7 victory. Ohio State ultimately didn't do anything to hurt itself and will likely remain one of the top teams in the country heading into next week's highly anticipated game against Oregon.

Texas A&M: After losing their first game of the season to Notre Dame, the Aggies were in turmoil. Saturday's 41-10 win over ninth-ranked Missouri is their most impressive victory of the season and should give them a rise in the rankings. Running back Le'Veon Moss led the Aggies with 138 yards on 12 carries and scored three touchdowns.

Washington: Washington lost to one of the Big 10's historically worst teams, swept the conference's class and avenged its national championship loss with a 27-17 victory over Michigan. It just goes to show how much chaos the Big 10 could see later in the year in the first season of the new West Coast expansion.

Tennessee: While Vanderbilt pulled off the upset of the week against No. 1 ranked Alabama, the Volunteers came into the game 4-0 against Arkansas and expected to get the job done. Instead, fans stormed the field just like they did at Vanderbilt in a 19-14 upset. The offense has a lot to answer for here, as quarterback Nico Iamaleava and his group were only able to produce the final score twice. Their CFP chances aren't exhausted yet, but this should be an elite offense and hasn't shown in the last two weeks.

Michigan: The reigning national champions fell short in a rematch of last season's title game, losing 27-17 to Washington on Saturday. Huskies quarterback Will Rogers put on a show while Michigan's offense struggled in the first half. Michigan coach Sherrone Moore turned to backup quarterback Jack Tuttle after Alex Orji completed just 3 of 7 for 15 yards, but Tuttle committed two costly turnovers in the fourth quarter to seal their fate. The loss was Michigan's first Big Ten loss since 2021.

SEC: We have no idea what schedule Alabama and Tennessee have in place for their respective games. But the Tide were overwhelmed by Vanderbilt, and Tennessee's offense looked nothing like it was advertised. Now both teams are facing defeat and we still have a long way to go in the season. A brutal day for the first and fourth place teams in the country.

USC: The Trojans' spiral continues after they lost their second game of the season, this time at the hands of Minnesota. The Gophers got a fourth down inside the Trojans' 2-yard line when they could have just kicked the FG to take a late lead. But head coach PJ Fleck is a crazy man and made Lincoln Riley look like an idiot after the game. The Trojans are likely eliminated from playoff contention again in October.

UAB: After a 71-20 loss to Tulane, it may be time for the Blazers to move on from head coach Trent Dilfer. This whole experiment failed given people who thought Dilfer was some kind of “splash” recruit who would lure recruits. This program was discontinued, only to rise from the ashes. Unfortunately, Dilfer has put this football team in a terrible position and the athletic director should also leave.

Missouri: Ninth-ranked Missouri no longer has a spotless record after the Texas A&M Aggies defeated the Tigers last Saturday. Texas A&M's 41-10 victory over Missouri raised the question of whether the Tigers were contenders or contenders for the College Football Playoff. While one can reasonably argue that Missouri wasn't viewed as one of the teams in the SEC that had a legitimate chance to win the conference title in December, the expanded playoff format opened the door for the Tigers to claim a 12th seed to secure postseason spots. However, this loss will likely result in Missouri being eliminated from the playoff conversation.

Louisville: It's never good to be upset at home. Louisville had a chance to rebound after a narrow loss to Notre Dame last week, but unranked SMU defeated No. 22 Louisville 34-27. This is Louisville's second straight loss as they fall to 3-2 on the year. Things don't get any easier for the Cardinals with Miami and Clemson scheduled to play next month.

temple: Not that Temple is a program that should be under regular national scrutiny, but one of the biggest playoff mistakes and an epic viral embarrassment will land it on this list. A fumble at the goal line by quarterback Forrest Brock with a chance to win the game turned into a two-possession loss for UConn in a matter of seconds. Temple is just lucky that Alabama, USC and Michigan ended up with catastrophic losses themselves, otherwise Temple might have been the biggest loser in what was expected to be a fairly quiet week.
