Here's how SC voters can register before the 2024 general election

There is still a month left until the 2024 general election on November 5th.

Here are some dates and information to note so you can vote in the presidential and local elections:

Registration deadlines

South Carolina's voter registration deadline has been extended due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene.

South Carolinians now have until October 14 to register to vote.

How do I register?

ON-LINE: Voters can register online at scVOTES.gov. Please note that a driver's license or DMV ID is required.

FAX/E-MAIL: Registrants can download a voter registration form, complete it, and return it to your county's voter registration office by mail, fax, or email.

PERSONAL: Voters can also register in person by visiting their county's voter registration office or while receiving services at the DMV.

How do I know my registration is current?

If you have moved from one county to another, you must register in your new county by the deadline to be eligible to vote.

When do I vote?

EARLY: The early voting period begins October 21st and ends November 2nd. Early voting centers are open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m

ABSENCE: The application deadline for postal voting ends on October 25th at 5 p.m.

ELECTION DAY: Polling stations are open on election day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m
