When Saturday Night Live Premiering in 1975, Kenan Thompson wasn't even born yet – but Coldplay and Nate Bargatze believe the longtime performer has always been on the show.

“So, Kenan, you’ve been on the show for 50 years,” Bargatze tells Thompson in new promos for this weekend’s episode. “This is amazing. How does it feel? …You had to be 10 when it started?”

“Do you think I’m 60 years old?” Thompson says incredulously.

“You look great for your age!” Bargatze adds, as Coldplay’s Chris Martin chimes in: “You really do,” as his bandmates nod along.

“Oh, thank you, Coldplay,” says Thompson.

Sure, Thompson is the longest-tenured cast member in the show's history – he joined in 2003 and is now in his 21st season on the sketch comedy show – but he's only 46 years old, so he's had some of the early years missed. (Fun fact: Thompson was the first regular cast member born after the series premiered in 1975.)

Elsewhere in the promos, Thompson pokes fun at his long tenure. “That's what I love about it SNLsays Thompson. “People from all over the world come together to put on a show.”

“I come from America!” says Bargatze, while Martin adds: “We come from each other not America!” Then Thompson admits, “I'm from just inside the door, right over there. Born and raised. All my life, right here.”

Coldplay return to the show as musical guests for the eighth time, promoting their brand new album Moon musicappears on Friday. Comedian Bargatze returns as host for the second time after making his contribution SNL Debuted last year.

SNL Season 50 premiered last weekend, with Jean Smart as host and Jelly Roll as musical guest.
