Former President Donald Trump's highly anticipated return to Butler, Pennsylvania, took an unexpected turn Saturday evening when he interrupted his speech to mention a medical emergency to the crowd.

The rally, held at the same site where Trump survived an assassination attempt in July, began with a poignant reminder of that harrowing event. “As I said,” Trump opened, noting that his previous speech was interrupted by gunfire just minutes later. The former president then began with a message of resilience and determination.

“Tonight, after the tragedy and heartache, I return to Butler to deliver a simple message to the people of Pennsylvania and the people of America: Our movement to Make America Great Again stands stronger, prouder, more united, more determined and closer “to victory than ever before,” Trump declared to the enthusiastic crowd.

However, the momentum of the rally was briefly interrupted when Trump became aware of a commotion in the stands a few minutes into his speech. Newsweek Reporter Monica Sager, who was present at the event, monitored the situation as it developed.

A man wearing a signature Trump hair hat appeared to direct emergency responders to a specific spot in the crowd. The situation quickly escalated as more security and medical personnel converged on the area.

“There are currently around ten security forces and paramedics on site,” reported Sager, noting the growing number of emergency responders on site.

The affected rally participant was eventually placed on a stretcher where medical staff escorted him from the event.
