Philadelphia Eagles vs New Orleans Saints odds, expert picks, how to watch: Can the Saints continue their winning streak?

Philadelphia Eagles vs New Orleans Saints odds, expert picks, how to watch: Can the Saints continue their winning streak?

Before Week 2, there was reasonable skepticism about the Saints' apparent offensive turnaround, given that their Week 1 opponent was Carolina, an NFL team only in the deepest sense. But after chasing Dallas out of its own stadium, it doesn't seem so odd that New Orleans is considered the favorite against the Eagles.

What a difference a coordinator can make. New OC Klint Kubiak has got the Saints moving, using motion on 74 percent of their plays against the Cowboys and executing nearly 60 percent of the plays. The result is off-balance opposing defenses and an increase in explosive plays from New Orleans' talented athletes, most of whom were shackled by a scheme that ranked near the bottom in those categories last season. Rashid Shaheed in particular has blossomed, hurting the defense multiple times per game thanks to pre-snap momentum and quarterback Derek Carr having time to drive the ball forward. Add in the still-sprightly Alvin Kamara in the backfield, and the Eagles defense is facing an offense that is far more dangerous than it seemed when the schedule was released.

Philadelphia just suffered a surprise loss to Atlanta after a strange decision in the final stages of the game combined with a dropped pass ruined a sure victory.

Playing without superstar wideout AJ Brown, Philly's offense is undermanned for what will likely be a shootout. The Eagles have struggled to pressure opposing quarterbacks and have now gone six games in a row without sacking a single edge rusher. Their ground defense is among the worst in the league, allowing 6.4 yards per carry, and their pass coverage isn't designed to keep up with the Saints' speed. Fortunately, Philadelphia has the tools to control the tempo of the game with quarterback Jalen Hurts, superstar running back Saquon Barkley, and an elite offensive line. But they'd better impose their will right from the start, because New Orleans has shown how quickly their new blitzkrieg offense can let things spiral out of control.
