Controversial Mayor Tiffany Henyard is now facing eviction after allegedly living on taxpayer money

The embattled mayor of a suburb Chicago City – there is already an investigation into the alleged misuse of municipal funds, including $40,000 worth of Amazon purchases in a single day — is now being kicked out of her home, according to an eviction notice filed in Cook County Circuit Court.

Dolton, Illinois, Mayor Tiffany Henyard and her live-in boyfriend Kamal Woods were informed on Sept. 18 that they were $3,350 behind on their rent and would have to either pay or vacate the premises, the notice said.

Reached on Monday from The IndependentLandlord Genetta Hull declined to comment further on the situation.

The couple pays $2,400 a month for the apartment, NBC Chicago reported. Their payments are not excessively late, and it is unknown why Hull evicted so quickly. according to WGN. “This is an allegation made under false pretenses,” said Henyard’s attorney, Beau Brindley said WGN of the eviction process. “I don’t think any evidence of missed payment can be presented. This is based on other motives and is not a bona fide complaint.”

The court date for Henyard and Woods' eviction proceedings is scheduled for October 22nd.
