England Great's 'Bazball' on India vs Bangladesh batting goes viral. Internet responds

Former England captain Michael Vaughan feels India's quick first innings against Bangladesh in the second Test was a reflection of England's 'bazball' approach. The Indian batsmen played attacking cricket in the first essay while openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma set the tone for India's quick response at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur after they bowled out Bangladesh for 233 in the second session. Vaughan wrote to X: “I see India playing bazball” as he compared India's attack to England's bazball approach. “Bazball”, a term for England's attacking style of cricket that became popular when Brendon McCullum took over as red-ball coach in 2022.

In 34.4 overs, India scored a total of 285/9 and declared their innings with a lead of 52 runs in the final session of Day 4. India's breakout was led by Jaiswal, who along with Rohit hit a 31-ball half-century 23 with three sixes and a four.

Jaiswal hit 72 off 51 balls, including 12 fours and two maximums, completing his fastest team of 50 and 100 in 18 and 61 balls respectively.

Although India lost wickets at regular intervals, the strike rate did not drop as the home batters continued the momentum until the loss of the last wicket. Shubman Gill (39), Virat Kohli (47) and KL Rahul followed suit and hammered at a furious rate.

India's drive to score at a faster pace shows they are intent on getting a result after two days of play were washed out due to rain and a wet outfield.

India is currently leading the World Test Championship (WTC) table and the 2-0 series win against Bangladesh will further strengthen its chances of reaching the third consecutive final.

However, if the Kanpur Test ends in a draw, India would be tasked with winning five Tests from the remaining eight matches in the current WTC cycle.

After the series in Bangladesh, India is scheduled to host New Zealand in October for a three-Test series before heading to Australia for the five-Test tour.
