POCATELLO – A freeze warning has been issued for much of eastern Idaho, while a freeze warning is in effect for eastern Lemhi County.

Above 2,500 feet, freezing temperatures of up to 25 degrees are expected in parts of Lemhi County. According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will be the coldest morning and most high valleys will experience heavy frost.

“Frost and freeze could destroy crops and other sensitive vegetation and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” the warning said.

The freeze warning includes Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Blackfoot, Rexburg, Shelley, American Falls, INL, St. Anthony, Fort Hall, Craters of the Moon and Mud Lake. It applies on Tuesday from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. and temperatures up to 32 degrees will lead to frost formation.

Weather conditions

“Temperatures near freezing could harm delicate outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants can be killed if not covered,” the warning says. “Take steps now to protect sensitive plants from the cold.”
