In the race to represent Colorado's 3rd Congressional District, Republican Jeff Hurd is barely ahead of Democrat Adam Frisch after the final round of voting was released Tuesday just after 7:30 p.m.

The latest results show Hurd with 49.77% of the vote (150,848 votes) and Frisch with 47.45% (143,819 votes).

303,065 of 1,626,462 ballots were counted, with four of 27 counties reporting.

Frisch, a former city councilman from Aspen, is considered an outsider in the Republican-leaning district. While he narrowly lost to U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert in 2022, Boebert is seen as the reason the race was close, rather than a change in the district's attitude toward Republicans in general.

Hurd, an attorney from Grand Junction, became the Republican nominee after Boebert, who currently represents the district, announced she would leave the area and instead run in the 4th Congressional District on the opposite side of the state.

The 3rd Congressional District stretches across much of the state, from Aspen and Grand Junction to the northwest and southwest areas of the state and over to Pueblo in the Front Range.

Since Boebert, who was a lightning rod for controversy, left the district, Frisch has faced an uphill battle.

According to the Federal Election Commission, Frisch has raised more money than almost any other U.S. House candidate in the country, raising $16.5 million and spending $15.4 million.

Hurd received $2.4 million and spent $2 million.

This is a developing story that will be updated.
